How to maintain and clean my jewelry?
Jewelry is delicate and requires special attention. To ensure their longevity and shine, here are some tips:
- Avoid wearing your jewelry while doing household chores, such as washing dishes. Chemicals can damage the plating.
- Remove your jewelry before showering. Water and soap can dull the shine of the gold plating.
- Store your jewelry in their original packaging when not worn. This will protect them from scratches and other damage.
- Avoid wearing your jewelry when swimming in salt or chlorinated water, which can be particularly corrosive to the gold plating.
- Be aware that sweat can also deteriorate gold plating. It is therefore advisable to remove your jewelry before any intense physical activity.
- Regularly clean your gold-plated jewelry. Use a soft cloth and avoid harsh chemicals.
By following these tips, you should be able to enjoy your gold-plated jewelry for many years.
Do not use:
- Hard-bristle toothbrushes
- Abrasive sponges
- Very acidic products (or else with lots of water)
- Powdered products, even baking soda, if it is not dissolved
- Silverware products and other chemicals.
- We recommend avoiding any too intensive cleaning, which could deteriorate the plating.
Have your jewelry tarnished?
Soak your jewelry for about an hour in a bowl filled with warm water and grated Marseille soap. Rinse with clear water and then gently wipe it with a soft cloth.
Do you want to remove stains?
- Apply a paste made of vinegar, flour, and salt in more or less equal proportions.
- Gently rub the stain with a cotton swab soaked in slightly diluted lemon juice. Immediately after removing the stain, rinse with a cloth soaked in mineral water.
- Wipe with a microfiber cloth.
- Spread with your fingertips without rubbing too hard (like a massage), then rinse.
